When Murray State lost to Tennessee-Martin in the Ohio Valley Conference Tournament last week the general consensus was that the season was over. But, as Lee Corso would say, not so fast my friends.
WPSD's Jeff Bidwell said on March 6 that Murray State's athletic director Allen Ward had indicated that the Racers were looking at possible postseason opportunites. And it is possible they could be invited to play in the CIT or CBI.
The Racers finished the season with a 16-17 record. Anbd you might think a sub-.500 record would make it impossible for them to get an invitation to either tournament.
The CIT has invited numerous .500 teams over the years and in 2013 they invited 11-21 Chicago State. The CBI also has a record on inviting teams with a losing record. Last year they invited 14-16 Seattle. In 2015 they invited 15-16 Colorado. In 2014 they invited three teams that had a losing record - Old Dominion at 16-17, Penn State at 15-17, and Siena at 15-17.
With Murray State's tradition and stars like Jonathan Stark and Terrell Miller on the roster, you have to think that the Racers will get an invitation if they want one.
