Preview: Murray at Caldwell County




Murray High travels to nearby Caldwell County this evening, so it will be the Tigers against the Tigers. Kickoff is scheduled for 7 pm. Murray comes into the game with a 3-2 record, having beaten Union County 18-6 last Friday. Caldwell County is 2-2. Their game at Glasgow last Friday was canceled because of COVID.

The Tigers are a run dominant team with 170 rushing attempts so far this year and just 73 passing plays. Charvelle McCallister leads the Tigers in rushing with 356 yards and five touchdowns on 55 carries. But, he was unavailable last week and is not expected to play tonight. Quarterback Randy Sokolowski has 317 yards on 54 carries with five touchdowns. And, Brian Dahncke has 246 yards on 42 carries with three touchdowns.

Sokolowski has thrown 73 passes, completing 37 for 672 yards with six touchdowns and 10 interceptions.

Caldwell County is more balanced with 86 pass plays and 105 running plays.

Jamus Carneyhan leads Caldwell in rushing with 141 yards and one touchdown on just six carries. Travion Samuel has 116 yards and two touchdowns on 44 carries. And Quarterback Russ Beshear has 107 yards with one touchdown on 40 carries.

Beshear has completed 52 of 82 passes for 631 yards and seven touchdowns with just three interceptions.

The Massey Ratings predict a 31-24 Caldwell County victory.
