December Sprint Begins For Racers
The Murray State Racers (5-3) take on the Bellarmine Knights in a Saturday 1 p.m. CT tip at Freedom Hall in Louisville, Kentucky. The game marks the first time MSU has appeared in the famous arena since 2003.
The Racers are coming off their best week of the young season with a pair of overtime wins in their first games as members of the Missouri Valley Conference. MSU is one of six teams since WWII in The Valley to win their first two games in their first season in the conference. The fact that the Racers did it in overtime fashion makes the accomplishment even more notable as they played their only back-to-back overtime games since records that begin in 1983.
The fun began (Dec. 1) when the Racers got a 3-point basket from Rob Perry with 1:25 left in overtime to win 70-67 of Illinois State. Perry scored 20 points as the Racers won for the 19th consecutive time at the CFSB Center. On Sunday (Dec. 4), the Racers played their first road game in MVC play and won another overtime affair over the Valparaiso Beacons 77-70.
MSU played Bellarmine for the first time a year ago in Murray and won the game 79-58.
