OVC PLAYER OF THE WEEK

Ja Morant, G 6-3, 170, So. Dalzell, S.C. Murray State

Morant averaged 26.0 points, 8.5 assists, 8.0 rebounds, 1.5 blocks and 1.0 steals/game while hitting 43.6 percent (17-of-39) from the field and 77.3 percent (17-of-22) from the free throw line in two games. Against Evansville, Morant played the full 40 minutes and scored on a scooping layup with 0.6 seconds left to give Murray State the 66-64 victory (its 15th-straight home win). He flirted with a triple-double in the game, finishing with 27 points, 10 assists and eight rebounds while also adding two blocks and a steal. He ended the week by scoring 25 points on 7-of-14 shooting (10-of-11 free throws) in a 93-88 loss at No. 7 Auburn. The sophomore had eight rebounds, seven assists, a block and steal in 39 minutes against the nationally-ranked Tigers. Entering this week Morant ranked first nationally in assists (9.3/game), 13th in double-doubles (6) and 17th in scoring (23.0 points/game).

Kelvin Robinson, G 6-2, 210, Jr. Little Rock, Ark. Eastern Kentucky

Robinson, a transfer from Northwest Florida State College, had a season-high 14 points, nine assists, five rebounds and two steals in an overtime loss at Duquesne. The junior hit 6-of-11 field goals and 2-of-3 free throws in 34 minutes of action.

 FRESHMAN OF THE WEEK

Tevin Brown, G 6-5, 180, Fr. Fairhope, Ala. Murray State

In two games Brown averaged 13.5 points, 6.0 rebounds, 2.5 assists, 2.0 steals and 1.0 blocks/game while hitting 45 percent (9-of-20) from the field andd 53.8 percent (7-of-13) from 3-point range. Against No. 7 Auburn, Brown had his first career double-double, scoring 19 points on 5-of-7 3-point shooting while pulling down 10 rebounds, netting three steals and dishing out three assists in 33 minutes. He opened the week with eight points, two rebounds, two blocks, two assists and a steal in a win against Evansville. Brown leads the OVC in 3-pointers made/game (3.3/game).
