Now finished with the pre-conference season, the Racers begin the nine-week 18-game grind of the Ohio Valley Conference. This season marks the 74th season of OVC basketball as the Racers are an original member of the leagues since it was founded in 1948. The Racers have won a league-best 27 regular season championships including a run of three-straight with titles in 2017-18, 2018-19 and 2019-20 which produced a combined record of 47-7. After a 10-10 mark of 2020-21, the Racers are looking to make a return to the top.

He's the first Racer to win the honor in three consecutive weeks since Ja Morant won three in a row in 2019. MSU's Jonathan Stark won three in a row in 2017/18 as did Cameron Payne in 2015 and Cuthbert Victor in 2003.  Brown tallied a game-high 22 points against No. 12 Auburn on Dec. 22. He was 8-of-15 from the field and was 3-of-6 from the 3-point line. He had a team-best nine rebounds to go with two assists and two steals.
