Kansas may be preseason #1 instead of Kentucky

The University of Kansas released a statement last night saying that Lagerald Vick will be returning for his senior season. This comes as a bit of a surprise because Vick said three months ago that he was going to pursue a professional career.

The 6-5 guard averaged 12.1 points and 4.8 rebounds last season.

"He realized that he needed to get better," Kansas head coach Bill Self said.

The Jayhawks were already expected to be one of the best teams in the country next year with center Udoka Azubuike returning and the addition of two transfers - Devon Dotson and Dedric Lawson.

Kansas will also have a highly regarded freshman guard, Quentin Grimes.

Basketball analyst Jon Rothstein tweeted, "With the return of Lagerald Vick, Kansas remains number one in the FanRagSports Preseason Top 25."

CBS Sports' Gary Parrish tweeted, "Lagerald Vick has decided to return to Kansas for senior season. The loaded Jayhawks are now deeper and better. Right there with Kentucky for preseason No. 1."
