The Calloway County Lakers and Murray High Tigers meet on the gridiron at Jack D. Rose Stadium tomorrow evening at 7 pm. Calloway is 3-2, having lost to Logan County 14-6 last Friday. Murray is 4-3 and is coming off of a 21-20 loss to Mayfield last week.
Both teams rely heavily on the running game. Calloway has thrown just 79 passes while they have run the ball 149 times. Zach Orange leads the Lakers with 268 yards and two touchdowns on 58 carries. Quarterback Kanyon Franklin has 154 yards with three touchdowns on 52 carries. Timarian Bledsoe has 116 yards and one touchdown on 23 carries.
Franklin has completed 38 of 78 passes for four touchdowns and 420 yards with three interceptions. His top receiver, Aaron Fennel has 11 catches for 151 yards and one touchdown.
Murray has thrown 90 passes while running the ball 249 times. Quarterback Rowdy Sokolowski has 453 yards and nine touchdowns on 91 carries. Charvelle McCallister has 421 yards and six touchdowns on 71 carries. Brendan Dahncke 390 yards and five touchdowns on 68 carries.
Sokolowski has completed 45 of 90 passes for 829 yards and eight touchdowns with 10 interceptions. His leading receiver, Dijon Miles, has 10 catches for 205 yards and two touchdowns.
Murray and Calloway have had one common opponent. Calloway lost to Paducah Tilghman 41-14 on September 18. Murray beat Tilghman 31-21 on October 2.
The Massey Ratings predicts a 28-19 victory for Murray High.
