NOTEWORTHY

This is the second matchup of the teams this season; the squads played on October 16 in Cape Girardeau in a game that did not count in the Conference standings. Overall this is the 57th all-time game between the program and Murray State has won three of the past four against the Redhawks.

In the earlier meeting, Murray State fell behind 31-16 at the end of the third quarter, but scored 16 unanswered points in the final quarter, including an Aaron Baum 35-yard field goal as time expired to win 32-31.

In his first career start, redshirt freshman quarterback DJ Williams passed for 240 yards and a touchdown and ran for 81 yards and two more scores which earned him OVC Offensive Player of the Week honors.

SEMO, coming off an open date, controls its destiny in the Conference race. A win this week and a victory over UT Martin next week would give the team the automatic bid to the FCS Playoffs.

In its last game, the Redhawks fell behind 9-7 at halftime, but Shabari Davis started the second half with an 86-yard kickoff return and never looked back in a 38-15 victory. It marked the first kick return for a touchdown for SEMO in three years.

Junior quarterback CJ Ogbonna passed for two and ran for another touchdown in the win over EIU.  Senior Geno Hess ran for 107 yards and a touchdown; it was his 13th rushing score of the year, a mark that ranks fourth nationally.

In MSU's 32-27 win over Tennessee Tech, junior defensive back Marcis Floyd had two interceptions for 117 return yards, including a 90-yard touchdown. The 117 return yards was the second most in OVC history (two off the record). He also returned a PAT attempt 99 yards for two points and added seven tackles.

The Murray State defense had three forced turnovers in the win, marking the fifth time under Dean Hood the team has forced three or more turnovers in a game.

Kicker Aaron Baum connected on three field goals and three PATs to net 12 points and earn OVC Specialist of the Week honors. It marked the third time this season he has made multiple field goals in the same game.

Damonta Witherspoon ran for a team-best 87 yards and a touchdown against TTU.
