On Friday, November 20, Murray High will host Caldwell County in the first round of the KHSAA 2A playoffs. Murray comes into the game with a 5-3 record. Caldwell is 3-3. When they played each other, back on October 16, Murray won 41-34.
Murray is coming off of a 33-6 victory over Calloway County on October 30. Caldwell is coming off of a 56-17 victory over trigg County on October 30.
Murray is a run dominant team with just 95 passing plays and 305 running plays so far this season. Quarterback Rowdy Sokolowski leads the Tigers in rushing with 535 yards and 10 touchdowns on 106 carries. Brendan Dahncke has 498 yards and six touchdowns on 88 carries. Charvelle McCallister has 486 yards and nine touchdowns on 92 carries.
Sokolowski has completed 48 of 95 passes with eight touchdowns and 10 interceptions. Dijon Miles leads Murray with 205 yards on 10 catches and two touchdowns.
Caldwell is also run dominant with 117 passing plays and 157 running plays. Travion Samuel leads them in rushing with 180 yards and two touchdowns on 59 carries. Quarterback Russ Beshear has 173 and three touchdowns on 55 carries. Jamus Carneyhan has 141 yards and one touchdown on just six carries.
Beshear has completed an impressive 70 of 107 passes with 11 touchdowns and just three interceprions. Baron Wells has 502 yards receiving with five touchdowns on 31 catches. Tripp Branch has 305 yards and four touchdowns on 16 catches.
The Massey Ratings predict a 31-28 victory for Murray High.
